First Trip Across America

My dream finally came true!

I had always dreamed of driving across America ever since I was in high school. I finally did it this year in three weeks! The picture above was taken while driving across Texas and listening to George Strait’s Amarillo By Morning.

One thing this 2019 pandemic has taught me was life is very fragile and the time to do what I have always wanted is now! My timing for the trip was perfect for attending the Redox Science for Medical Professionals Conference & ASEA 2021 North America Conference in Nashville.

My husband and I drove from Phoenix to Albuquerque, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Nashville, Kentucky, Atlanta, Pensacola, Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Ft. Bliss, Tucson, and back to Phoenix. Our highlights were:

  • The delicate food at La Posada Hotel in Winslow, AZ

  • The delicious food at Big Texan Steak Ranch

  • Texas BBQ meals at San Antonio

  • Shopping at H-E-D superstore (Texas)

  • The Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta)

  • Mammoth Caves National Park (Kentucky)

  • Corvette Museum (Kentucky)

  • Barber Motorsports Museum (Alabama)

  • Grand Ole Opry (Nashville)

  • The beaches at Corpus Christi and seeing the locals fishing everywhere. A fishing haven.

  • Pima Air Museum (Tucson, AZ)

  • White Sands National Park (New Mexico)

  • Local foods! Great Thai food in Kentucky and Vietnamese food in Oklahoma City (big surprise).

  • Talking to the locals.
